Be A Change is a social business contest that gathers entrepreneurial spirits to explore potential social business ideas whose incentives are to solve social problems and to make a positive changes on society.

WHAT IS SOCIAL BUSINESS?

The world today is struggling with increasing social problems that public sectors and non-profit organizations and traditional businesses can not tackle all challenges alone. Therefore, we need to think of a comprehensive solution that links all available resources, combines business sectors and public sectors in order to provide social needs or crack societal problems. It is called “social business”.

Social business is about driving social change with business means. The success of a social enterprise is ultimately measured in terms of the social impact it creates profits come as a side product. Social business aims at achieving a triple-bottom line which includes social benefits, environmental benefits and financial sustainable.

Winners of Be A Change 2011

November 30th 2011

The Award Gala of Be A Change 2011 was held last Friday with all excitement. Nine social business ideas were presented and in the end, the Jury selected the 3 best ideas which well perform both social and business aspects to be rewarded. The winner is Ilkka Vuorikuru with the idea “SENDMEHELP”. SENDMEHELP is a powerful web based system that helps people find helps, offer helps and organize helps from personal scale to huge world network of organizations.
“It’s all about action. Action is the fundamental piece of any community which links vision with concrete tasks”, explained Ilkka. SENDMEHELP will bring a new, efficient way to coordinate actions in the big but small connected world.
The second place is given to “Che Sera” and the third one is “Lifecoach”. All ideas in Be A Change 2011 touched into different subjects which made it so dynamic and interesting. With its vision to inspire and empower people to create new things that drive positive changes on society. Be A Change 2011 ended and give a start for new ideas to blossom. Perhaps, rather keep thinking about hardship, we, people, should focus more on the good sides in life and help spread them larger and larger.
